Shanly, Eupha


John and Eupha Shanly lived in Kabul, Afghanistan, from April 1961-September 1962, while John worked for the Asia Foundation and in a laboratory at a university. The Shanlys lived in a compound in Kabul run by the Asia Foundation and became members of the Kabul Christian Church very soon after they arrived. During the time John and Eupha Shanly lived in Afghanistan, their daughter Faye married, both their daughter Lynne and son Tom welcomed new babies, and their daughter Ruth graduated high school and married. The Shanlys departed Kabul on September 23, 1962. They traveled from Afghanistan to Iran and then around Europe for a time where their daughter Ruth also joined them, traveling through Vienna, Paris, Munich, and Amsterdam. They arrived back in New York on October 29, 1962.

The Shanlys lived in Owego, New York, as well as Ohio and San Diego, California, at different times in their lives.
