The records of Nebraska Shakespeare includes material from its founding in 1986 to the present, documenting the history of the organization, its administration, and its productions. The collection includes production binders (1987-2007), programs, posters, publicity material, reviews, photographs, slides, meeting minutes, bylaws, schedules, fiscal information, inventory information, staff information, correspondence, planning documents, board of directors records, press releases, news clippings, and other documentation related to Nebraska Shakespeare. Nebraska Shakespeare was formerly known as the Nebraska Shakespeare Festival and is also commonly referred to as Shakespeare on the Green.
The collection also includes the files of Dr. Cindy Phaneuf, one of the co-founders of Nebraska Shakespeare. Among Phaneuf's files are materials related to the Shakespeare Theatre Association of America, for which she served as president in 2000.
The collection is open for research use. Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state right to privacy laws and regulations, the Nebraska Public Records Statutes (Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 84-712 through 84-712.09), and other relevant regulations. Confidential material may include, but is not limited to, educational, medical, and personnel records. Researchers are advised that the disclosure of certain information pertaining to identifiable living individuals represented in this collection without the consent of those individuals may have legal ramifications (e.g., a cause of action under common law for invasion of privacy may arise if facts concerning an individual's private life are published that would be deemed highly offensive to a reasonable person) for which the University of Nebraska Omaha assumes no responsibility.

New material added March 9, 2016: Programs from performances, marketing material, board of trustees material, press releases, press clippings, and other promotional material for the organization from circa 2000-2010, from the home of Shari Hofschire who worked for Nebraska Shakespeare before her retirement.
The Nebraska Shakespeare Festival is a joint operation of UNO and Creighton University. The materials in this collection were initially acquired from Creighton University.
New materials for the collection are sent by Nebraska Shakespeare to the Criss Library on an irregular schedule.
