In January 1999, Margaret A. Jurgensen, the Election Commissioner of Douglas County, placed many of the county's archival election records on permanent loan to the Special Collections of the Criss Library. According to the signed agreement, the Douglas County Election Commission provided 2 steel bookcases, 2 brown four drawer file cabinets, Douglas County Election results from 1882 to 1988, and maps of Douglas County subdivisions of government by precinct. Public access to the records was explicitly granted. The agreement stipulated that the Douglas County Election Commission retains ownership of these materials, and that if the Criss Library ever deaccessions them, the materials shall be returned to the Douglas County Election Commission.
