The UNO Criss Library Records are comprised of materials produced by or used by the Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Library of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and its predecessors the University Library and the Eugene C. Eppley Library. The collection includes library annual reports (1995/1996-2001/2002); departmental annual reports (Acquisitions/Order, Reference, Circulation, Cataloging, and Secretary); purchase orders and accession lists (1939-1941); budget ledger (1939-1940); integrated library system statistics (1990-2012); Eppley Library Extension Groundbreaking Ceremony Program and construction images (1963); University Library dedication (1976); Dr. Guinter Kahn Addition and Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Library dedication (2006); building planning documents, proposals, and program statements, including expansion and renovation; space planning documents; library strategic planning; periodical lists and other information about library resources; bibliographies; bibliographic instruction slides (pre-1985); Library Display Committee reports and photographs; library tour recordings on audio cassette (1992); the GENISYS (GENeral Information SYStem, integrated library system) dedication ceremony on audio cassette (1990); the library's WWW Server files saved on floppy diskettes (1997); Library Friends guest books (1982-1993); Library Friends scrapbook (circa 1983 through circa 1995); miscellaneous signs, banners, and plaques; employee handbooks; policy manuals; cataloging procedures; a circulation department user's manual for the Library Information Retrieval System (L.I.R.S.); the library air quality report (1992); material related to the KANEKO-UNO Library, KANEKO, and Jun Kaneko (circa 2003-2014); the UNO STEM Strategic Plan draft for UNO Administrative Approval (2013); various library studies and consultant reports; and miscellaneous other library documents. The collection includes materials that have not yet been arranged and described.
New material added 2015-05-29: Includes UNO Library annual reports from the early 2000s, annual reports of the UNO Library Public Services Department from the 1990s, UNO reports from the 2000s, documents related to the renovation of the library from 2003 and 2006, material about scholarly communication education initiatives by the library including video recordings of presentations from 2010-2011.
New material added 2016-12-20: The paper and plastic interlibrary loan book checkout cards for the book Aims of Education by Les Brown (1970). The paper card shows checkouts from 1973-1977.
The collection is open for research use. Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state right to privacy laws and regulations, the Nebraska Public Records Statutes (Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 84-712 through 84-712.09), and other relevant regulations. Confidential material may include, but is not limited to, educational, medical, and personnel records. Researchers are advised that the disclosure of certain information pertaining to identifiable living individuals represented in this collection without the consent of those individuals may have legal ramifications (e.g., a cause of action under common law for invasion of privacy may arise if facts concerning an individual's private life are published that would be deemed highly offensive to a reasonable person) for which the University of Nebraska Omaha assumes no responsibility.
