Ovington, Gertrude

Gertrude (Ovington) Bailey was a graduate of the Municipal University of Omaha, Class of 1950. Her sister Alice Naomi Ovington was also an OU graduate, Class of 1942. Gertrude passed away in 1991.

Chi Omega Paddle, 1949

Scope and Contents Chi Omega ceremonial hazing paddle that belonged to Gertrude "Babe" Ovington, OU class of 1950. Ovington's married name was Bailey. The paddle's leather strap is intact. Engraved on the front of the paddle is "To Babe from Nancy" and the reverse reads "Omaha University" and "December 19, 1949." The paddle bears the mark of L.G. Balfour of Attleboro, Massachusettes.
