Wymer Gene Vogel was born in 1921 in Stanton, Nebraska. He was a retired U.S. Air Force officer and spent 45 years in the aviation industry, including the Glenn L. Martin Company, which made the B-26 in Bellevue, Nebraska. He died in 2004.
