In 1930, with voter approval, the City of Omaha took control of the university, changing it to the Municipal University of Omaha. In 1968, the Municipal University of Omaha merged with the University of Nebraska system and became the University of Nebraska at Omaha, after which it was governed by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents, and the Municipal University of Omaha Board of Regents ceased to exist.
